Bead Awards 2012
Winners will be announced at the Big Bead Show on 20th October at Sandown Park, Esher.
Finalist pieces will be be on display at the show so come along to view.
Categories are:
Seed bead work -
Jewellery; main material used must be seed or cylinder beads
Seed bead work -
Non -Jewellery; main material used must be seed or cylinder beads
Wirework and chain maille jewellery -
Main material used must be metal wire or jump rings.
Metal clay jewellery -
Main material used must be any brand of metal clay.
Crystals -
Can be jewellery or non-jewellery; main material must be glass crystal beads.
Handmade glass beads and components -
Not finished jewellery but individual beads, sets or components made of glass.
Beyond glass handmade beads and components -
Not finished jewellery but individual beads, sets or components made of any materials except glass e.g. metal clay, polymer clay, wood, beaded beads.
Other finished bead jewellery - E.g. strung work or using beads other than seed beads.
Beyond beads jewellery -
Finished jewellery made using other materials e.g. felt, fabric, shrink plastic, metalwork, polymer clay.

- The competition has 8 categories and is open to everyone from around the world.
- Full rules are detailed on the rules tab above and on the entry form.
- The deadline for entries is midnight Friday 17th August 2012.
- The minimum entry fee is £10 which covers 1 entry and can be paid either by credit card or cheque (made Payable to Ashdown.co.uk Ltd). You can enter as many items as you like but each entrant can only appear in one category.
- All entrants will be judged anonymously and finalists selected by Friday 7th September 2012. Notification will be shortly thereafter.
- Finalists will then need to send their pieces in for final judging by Friday 21st September. These pieces will also appear on display at The Big Bead Show on Saturday 20th October 2012 at Sandown Park.
- The first place winner in each category will win a specially engraved award, plus goody bags from our sponsors - soon to be announced. The 2nd and 3rd place winners will each receive a certificate and subscriptions to Bead Magazine and Bead TV. Finalists will also have their winning pieces displayed in an article in Bead Magazine, the UK's best selling beading magazine, as well as on our web TV site www.Bead.tv. There will also be a special winners' display at the Big Bead Show itself for all our thousands of visitors to view. Finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony at the show. Two tickets will be provided per qualifying finalist.
- We reserve the right to disqualify any pieces deemed as made earlier than the qualifying dates or not made by the entrants.
- Whatever your experience, you are invited to enter any or all of the categories and detailed in the entry form:

Every submission will be acknowledged by email therefore please be sure to include your email address in your application. If you submit your entry and do not receive an email acknowledgement please call to ensure that we have received your entry.
- The competition is open to professional and amateur beaders from the around the world. Employees of Ashdown.co.uk Ltd or any or its subsidiaries are not eligible.
- Entry fee of £10 covers the submission of one piece.
- Each entrant may enter multiple categories but only one piece per category @ £10 per entry.
- Entry is by photo in the first instance with no more than two pictures being supplied of each item entered. One photo must show the whole piece. Images to be emailed to Elizabeth@ashdown.co.uk or posted to:

and must be received with application form by August 17th 2012. Preliminary judging will be conducted anonymously to select the finalists in each category and will be determined by Friday 7th September 2012. Notification will be shortly thereafter. - Short listed items will need to arrive at the Bead magazine offices for final judging by Friday 21st September 2012.
- All work entered must be original and created between September 2011 and August 17th 2012.
- Entries may be the work of a single person or collaboration by several people.
- Due to space and security issues we reserve the right to exclude large pieces from the Exhibit at The Big Bead Show and to limit peripherals in the display.
- International participants are responsible for all duties and/or taxes for items shipped for judging. Bead Magazine will not accept delivery on packages that require Customs duty to be paid.
- Each entrant must also cover return postage cost by providing credit card details.
- Entrants are responsible for providing insurance cover for shipping to Bead Magazine, your items display at The Big Bead Show, it's time at the Bead Magazine office and it's return to you. While every effort will be made to protect and safeguard your item while in our offices and at the show, we are not responsible for any damages or loss.
- Ashdown.co.uk Ltd, Bead Magazine, The Big Bead Show retain the right to use the entry photos, to photograph all submitted items, and to use the photographs in any lawful way, including but not limited to publicity, publications, electronic media etc., with full credit to the artist.

Bead Awards 2011 Winners
The British Bead Awards presentation ceremony took place at the Big Bead Show on 15th October and we're delighted to announce the list of winners.
Images of the winning pieces will be displayed in issue 35 on sale November 23rd.
